Procedure:
The skin that surrounds the end of the penis is surgically removed and the remaining skin is stitched around the end of the penis.
Risks of this procedure:
There are some risks/ complications, which can include:
(a) The penis may not look cosmetically pleasing.
(b) The tip of the penis may be injured. This may require further surgery.
(c) Risk of bleeding from the wound
(d) The end of the penis may be raw and bleed after the operation. This should heal in time.
(e) More skin may need to be removed.
(f) Scar tissue may cause blockage to urine flow from the end of the penis. This may need further surgery.
(g) Infection. This may spread into the bloodstream in young children. Treatment may need antibiotics.
